The Bytown Gazette, Thursday March 12, 1840 Obit: "In Richmond, on Saturday last, at the advanced age of upwards of 80 years, George Edge, a Pensioner from the 99th Regiment. The deceased had been upwards of 59 years in the service of his country, was buried with military honours, and his remains were accompanied to the grave, by many of his veteran companions in arms, who thus took the last opportunity of testifying their respect for his character as a soldier and a man."

George married Ellen Ryan. (Ellen Ryan was born in Ireland, died on 24 Oct and was buried in St. Isidore - S. March, Ontario, Canada.)
